Running Heads CMOS1.10-1.16
Never heard of a running head?
We’ve all seen and used running heads, likely without knowing what to call them. Running heads are simply headers placed (usually at the top of the page) to help us find information.
Check out the top of the page in any book you’re reading. Non-fiction books almost always include running heads, or headers. Many fiction books also include these headers (often listing the author, book title, or chapter title).
We may not be tasked with creating running heads unless we’re handling layout, but a general grasp of lingo is still important. If you’re designing a book and need to know which pages require running heads, check out CMOS 1.10-1.16 for more information.
