Struggling to finish your book draft?
Join the 540.
This is an unofficial community I’m starting for fellow procrastinators–I mean, writers.
Here’s something I learned today:
If you plan a 100,000 book manuscript and write
540 words per day
you’ll be finished with your first draft in ONLY
185 days.
Can you believe it? (Technically, it will take 185.185185185etc. days.)
If your life is too crazy for 540, write 275 words per day.
You’ll still finish in less than a year.
I can do this, right?
YOU can do this, right?
Let’s do this!
If you’d like to join the
540 Writers Community
and commit to writing 540 words (or your own arbitrary number) per day, click on the 540 page on this website, then fill out the orange-sherbet colored sign-up form. You can also join the FB group listed on that page.
TL;DR: I need accountability, so I’m forming a club for other like-minded (procrastinating, discipline-lacking, accountability-craving) writers.
We don’t have membership cards or bumper stickers, but maybe we’ll finish our books and sell them. Then, we can probably afford membership cards.
Are you a writer struggling to finish a project? Trust me–you are definitely not alone. Come on over and sit at the nerd–I mean, writer–table!
Special thanks to Hank Phillippi Ryan for the math lesson!
